Professors

Dr. Glen H. Besterfield

Glen Besterfield  is the Principal Investigator of the grant.  He is managing the technical content, graduate students, purchases and the budget of the grant.  He brings the Finite Element Analysis (FEA), stress analysis and design of experiments (DOE) expertise to the grant.

Autar Kaw  is a Co-Principal Investigator of the grant.  He brings elasticity, fracture mechanics, stress analysis, Graphical User Interface (GUI) development and web page development expertise to the grant.
Dr. Roger Crane

Roger Crane is a Co-Principal Investigator of the grant.  He brings heat transfer expertise to the grant.

Larry Oline is a Co-Principal Investigator of the grant.  He brings bridge design expertise to the grant.

Graduate Students

Badri Ratnam is developing interactive Finite Element Analysis models for THG assemblies of bascule bridges and graduated in August 2000.  He worked in Siemens and is now a PhD student in Public Policy in George Mason University.
Michael Denninger graduated and worked on developing the graphical user interface program for the THG bolt assembly.  He graduated in August 2000 and is a Design Engineer for Busch Gardens, Tampa, FL.
Sanjeev Nichani is developing instrumentation and experimental setup for quarter scale and full scale testing of a THG assembly of bascule bridges.  He graduated in August 2001 and works for a valve design company in Texas.
