They are poets and they know it

In Spring 2004 semester, students of EML 3041 Computational Methods course were invited to write a poem on any topic related to Numerical Methods.  Yes, it was for extra credit and yes, what they would not do for extra credit.

But they went beyond the call, and the results are not just encouraging but inspirational.  Maybe the spring break they got to write their poems had something to do with it.

Some of these poems could be lyrics for Faith Hill's next song as Ms. Hill loves songs laden with scientific terms

It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's, ah unthinkable
This kiss, this kiss
Unsinkable
This kiss, this kiss

    -Lyrics from This Kiss

I gave an option to the poets that they could use their real name, initials or a pen name.  While most were brave to use their real name, some students initials were impressive: LJO who may get tempted to switch first and middle names to become JLO.

So enjoy the poet in our students.
