FORWARDING E-MAIL
You can forward forwarding your e-mail as follows:
USF Students with a mail.usf.edu email address can set it up so that mail received at mail.usf.edu is forwarded to another email address, even off-campus ones like hotmail and aol. Students can set the forwarding options by following these instructions. If you have any further questions, please contact via phone locally at 813-974-1222 or toll free in Florida at 1-866-974-1222.
It is important to understand the need to have your final email address in working condition. Many times students forward e-mail to a non-existing or temporary address. While their USF email address will be active throughout their studies at USF, we cannot make the same statement about hotmail, yahoo, or any other address.
The Official USF Email Address is being used more and more for important USF-related announcements. Also, there is a condition with hotmail if the spam filters are set to medium or higher. At these levels, they block legitimate messages sent from Blackboard. Blackboard does not send using the To: field, rather it puts all recipients in the BCC: field to protect their identity.
This method of sending email, while perfectly legitimate, will trip spam filters when set to be aggressively restrictive. To solve the problem, please lower the level of spam filtering within hotmail, and the mail should flow freely again. |
