Hometown

    I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Below, you can see a picture of my neighbourhood.

    Barranquilla is the major industrial city on the caribbean coast of Colombia. It lies at the mouth of the Magdalena River. Barranquilla is known as Curramba the Beatiful(Spanish: Curramba la Bella), and those hailing from Barranquilla, like international recording artist Shakira, are known as "Curramberos". The adjective for a woman from Barranquilla is Barranquillera, while a man is Barranquillero. The most popular event is Barranquilla's annual Carnival (Carnaval de Barranquilla),which is celebrated 4 days before Ash Wednesday and is broadly recognized as one of the world's largest Carnivals. In november of 2003, UNESCO, proclaimed it as one of 28 different "masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity".

    Instructor in undergraduate basic engineering courses on Dynamic and Finite Element Analysis.

    • Research Assistant

    Created computer finite element models and simulations of the swing shaft of a P&H electric shovel using ANSYS. Studied stresses and deformations under applied loads for evaluations of design performance. This project was sponsored by Carbones del Cerrejon LLC.

    Coordinated and supervised the use of a CNC Leadwell V-40 Machine. Organized schedule and maintenance program.

  • Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia (02.04 - 01.05)

    • Uninorte Research Assistant

    Created computer finite element model and simulations of a structural gas natural pipe system station using ANSYS. Studied stresses and strains on a pipe structure under self-weight, wind and seismic load. Assisted PROMIGAS to design the column components and layout of the pipe system. This project was funded under the Colombian National Science Foundation (COLCIENCIAS)

    Provied technical and administrative assistance to Servimet Ltda. Supervised manufacturing process plant.

    Provided technical and commercial assitance to hydraulic cylinder customer. Quoted and sold hydraulic cylinder service maintenance, hydraulic cylinder and seals.
