BIOSKETCH
 

Dr. Rahman is a Professor and the Director of Graduate Programs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida. He received his Ph.D. degree from University of California, Berkeley in 1988. He has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator in research contracts funded by NASA, DOE, DOD, NIH, Sun Hydraulics Corporation, Tampa Electric Company, Honeywell Space Systems, E.ON Engineering, and other private companies. He has published 67 journal papers and 102 articles in peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He has served as the Chair of the ASME Advanced Energy Systems Division, Technical Program Chair of the ASME Energy Sustainability Conference, organizing committee member of the ASME Leadership Training Conference, and as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the ASME Technical Communities Operating Board. He has also served as an Associate Technical Editor for the Journal of Solar Energy Engineering (1998-2004) and for the Journal of Energy Resources Technology (2007-Present). He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Energy Research (2007–Present). Dr. Rahman received the USF Outstanding Teaching Award in 1997, ASME Advanced Energy System Division Best Paper Award in 1999 and 2007, SAE Teeter Educational Award in 1999, and ASME Florida West Coast Section Engineer of the Year Award in 2004. He is an ASME Fellow since 2007.
