Outreach |

Many motivated students question their ability to succeed educationally beyond high school. This is especially common in communities with few adult role models with college education. The Todd Center provides a challenging college preparatory training for motivated students at Northeast High School. The students at the Todd Center receive an excellent college preparatory education including rigorous calculus and physics training, but many of these students lack confidence to pursue their dreams in college. Dr. Crane visits the classroom for guest lectures and offers interested students the opportunity to work on senior projects through his laboratory. This work provides the opportunity for the students to build confidence and find mentors to support their career choices. |

Bringing College within Grasp |
|
Dr. Crane visits Maniscalco elementary school regularly to present fun (and often edible) demonstrations of engineering concepts. From edible friction welding to self-assembling breakfast cereal and 3D printing, students from K-5 see how engineers use the basic science concepts that they are learning to create exciting neew things.
