N. Ghani is an Electrical Engineering faculty and Academic Research Director for Cyber Florida. Earlier he was Associate Chair of the ECE Department at the University of New Mexico. He has also worked for large corporations (Nokia, IBM, Motorola) and some startups. His focus areas include cybersecurity, cyberinfrastructure, disaster recovery, and online education. His research has been supported by the NSF, DTRA, Dept. of Energy, Qatar Foundation, and Sprint-Nextel. He received the NSF CAREER Award in 2005 and was an Associate Editor for IEEE Comm. Letters, IEEE Systems, and IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical and Communications and Networking. He has also guest-edited special issues of IEEE Nework and IEEE Communications Magazine and has co-chaired symposia/workshops for IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE ICCCN, and IEEE INFOCOM. He also chaired the IEEE Tech. Committee on High Speed Networking from 2007-2010. He received a BSc from the University of Waterloo, a MS from McMaster University (Dr. Simon Haykin, IEEE Life Fellow), and a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo (Dr. Jon Mark, IEEE Life Fellow).
