ROBIOCON

Research

ROBIOCON research is highly interdisciplinary requiring expertise in ecology and biology, as well as in engineering.

Many invasive species disrupt ecosystems because their normal control (predator) is lacking. Simply introducing the biological control is not always successful, and native species can suffer further. ROBIOCON measures involve the introduction of a synthetic predator or the use of smart traps.

Advanced sensors and unique recognition methods make ROBIOCON systems selective only to the target species. ROBIOCON systems can also be a valuable tool for biologists involved in field studies while evaluating the extent of an invasion. Smart traps can be remotely monitored using the latest communication technologies, thereby optimizing personnel effort.
