    Bio

Dr. Hadi Gard (Charkhgard) is a tenured Associate Professor of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering and the director/founder of multi-objective optimization laboratory at the University of South Florida since August 2016. Prior to this position, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology for one year from August 2015 to August 2016. Dr. Charkhgard is an author of 45+ articles published in highly-ranked journals on all three aspects of Operations Research including theory, methodology, and applications. He is a multi-objective optimization expert and has a track-record of creating innovative techniques for solving real-world problems in different domains: natural resource management, transportation, healthcare, energy, database systems, etc.

Dr. Charkhgard has a long-term collaboration with researchers in United States Geological Survey (USGS) on solving conservation planning problems. Multiple PhD students of Dr. Charkhgard have been supported by USGS through the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) program. Dr. Charkhgard’s research has been funded by National Science Foundation (NSF) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dr. Charkhgard has received several notable awards such as an NSF CRII award (also known as mini-CAREER) and INFORMS Computing Society Best Student Paper Award (runner-up).
